Our Story

You may have heard of Carpe diem? A Latin term meaning “pluck the day” or, more commonly translated as “seize the day.” Therefore, “carpe planta” literally means “pluck/seize the plant.”

The playful name of the brand is mirrored in the artistry of the work. Mindfully crafted functional pottery is the keystone to the Carpe Planta brand. Bold colors and whimsical designs combine to evoke joy. Our pieces are made with the intention of providing a useful function meant to enhance everyday life and foster connection to nature. At Carpe planta we believe art makes the world a better place. Not only do we believe in carpe diem, but also in carpe planta.

Meet the Artist

Hey there!

I’m Kaylee, and I am the one woman show behind Carpe Planta. I’ve loved art ever since I was a little girl, and in 2021 I decided to pursue art as more than just a hobby.

When I started Carpe Planta I was hand painting terracotta pots and selling them at local craft fairs. It wasn’t until 2024 that I took my first pottery class, and I was hooked! Now I paint and carve my own handmade planters, vases, watering cans, bowls, and more!

Soon after taking my first pottery class I invested in a second hand pottery wheel and kiln, and starting creating pieces in my makeshift basement pottery studio. Although I still sell my products at craft fairs today, I also opened an online store, and in 2025 I began offering in person paint and carve pottery workshops. My intention is that my work will spread joy, and spark creativity that is within you!
